A Safety Alert has been published to highlight and clarify the correct requirements that a fire stop has to achieve. Many contractors are using products as a fire stop on a party/compartmental wall and within the batten cavity without fully understanding the correct requirements, the Safety Alert sets out what you must check with the manufacturer of the product you use to ensure that it meets the requirements of Approved Document B, Annexe B, Table 3 and 4.
