Research Portfolio on Careers in Construction Commissioned by CITB

CITB has commissioned the Institute for Employment Studies (IES), BMG Research and the International Centre for Guidance Studies (iCeGS) to further develop its research portfolio on careers in construction and to broaden it to be as comprehensive as possible, considering the entire journey into a construction career.

CITB is seeking a selection of construction employers who are interested in enhancing career pathways to participate in 30-minute interviews, during which IES researchers will explore any initiatives you are currently undertaking or planning to undertake to facilitate access to construction for individuals from diverse social class backgrounds. This could include aspects of recruitment and pathways into the industry, and how these vary by role and organisation. The interviews will discuss career decision-making and the influence of social media and social class on careers in the construction sector.

Interviews will be held throughout March and April 2025 and can be flexible to fit your availability. The call will last no more than 30 minutes and will be conducted either over the phone or through Microsoft Teams. Your contact details will not be shared with CITB. All results will be anonymised before aggregated findings are provided to CITB.

Please email Claudia Plowden Roberts at IES to confirm your interest in taking part or if you have any questions.
