NFRC and roofing manufacturers to host South West technical event

NFRC Technical Team will identify current trends that are causing contractors difficulties with compliance in accordance with Building Regulations or application of details and, in conjunction with manufacturer members of NFRC, will present solutions that can be adapted to mitigate defects, these will include:

• Fire stopping to party walls
• Solar applications and membranes under in roof solar panels
• Fire safety on flat roofs including BRoof(T4) and Safe2Torch
• Provide an update on the upcoming changes to BS6229 Flat roofs with continuously supported flexible waterproof coverings – Code of practice

Technical representatives who will provide solutions to the current trends identified will include, Siderise, Wienberger Sandtoft, Glidevale Protect, Garland UK, and SIG Roofing.

In addition, there will be an overview of the Building Safey Act, where Steve Scottorn from Tier 1 contractor Laing O’Rourke will deliver a presentation about the changes and challenges his company has been through to ensure compliance as a principle contractor with the Building Safety Act, and also to provide an insight on what they would expect from their roofing, cladding and façade contractors to prove competency in line with the act.
