National Minimum & Living Wage Compliance for Apprentices

Apprentices aged 19–20, in their second or third year of training, must receive the new NMW of £10.00 per hour.

Apprentices aged 21 or over, in second or third year of training, must receive the NLW of £12.21 per hour.

All other aspects of the pay agreement remain the same. However, businesses should carefully review the new rates to ensure full compliance. These changes may affect payroll systems, wage calculations, and budgeting for both existing staff and any new hires.

What You Need to Do

  1. Review Current Pay Structures: Check your existing rates for General Operatives and apprentices to ensure they meet or exceed the new minimum requirements.

  1. Update Payroll Systems: Make any necessary adjustments to payroll software or processes ahead of 1st April 2025.

  1. Inform Employees: Communicate the new rates to your workforce so everyone is aware of the upcoming changes and how they may be affected.

By acting now, roofing, cladding, and supplier businesses can stay compliant and maintain fair wage practices within our sector. If you have any questions regarding these changes, please contact your relevant trade association or professional advisor for further guidance.
