H&SE and OPSS have signed an agreement that sets out the principles of effective communication, mutual co-operation and engagement between one another in relation to the quality and safety of the built environment, and the basis on which they will collaborate with each other and discharge their respective responsibilities. Note that this is not a legally binding agreement and is not intended to cover every detailed aspect of the working relationship. It must be remembered that OPSS, while being part of the Department of Business and Trade, remains accountable to DLUHC for construction products. Part of its duty is to improve construction products safety standards. There is nothing of concern to manufacturers in this document but is provided as interesting information concerning the new Building Safety Regime.
