Careers Help for Employees and Employers from NFRC

We have a wide range of careers and recruitment resources and services available to NFRC Members including our Roofing Careers Service, NFRC Charitable Trust Inclusion Fund and the England Construction Opportunities (ECO) project.

We have a wide range of careers and recruitment resources and services available to NFRC Members. Let us help you to recruit and retain the skilled people you require. Roofing Careers Service website Since its launch in 2021, we have helped many employers and individuals with careers development in roofing. The Careers Service is completely free for NFRC Members to use and is a valuable and evolving resource for careers information and guidance. It brings together young people and career changers looking to join the industry with employers aiming to recruit passionate and dedicated individuals. Visit the Careers Service to find out more. We are also looking for case studies and feedback on the Careers Service. Case studies are a powerful way of showing where a career in roofing can take you, which can in turn be used to promote our industry more widely. If you would like to submit a case study or have feedback about using the Careers Service, please contact [email protected].

NFRC Charitable Trust Inclusion Fund This fund aims to promote diversity and inclusion within the roofing sector. It is a grant programme for NFRC Members to help them design and deliver initiatives to attract or retain diverse talent. Grants of up to £2,000 are available to fund inclusion activities such as career insight days, online or practical insight sessions, site and employer visits, careers talks in local schools or community groups or for staff training on diversity and inclusion. These are just a few ideas and we are always keen to hear from Members with a range of proposals. Members who are interested in applying to the fund can submit an expression of interest by visiting the Charitable Trust Inclusion Fund page or for further information, contact our Head of Careers, Ruth Scarrott. England Construction Opportunities (ECO) project Funded by CITB, the England Construction Opportunities (ECO) project supports new or returning entrants to the roofing sector and their employers through the first six months in the job. This includes job coaching, mentoring, employer engagement, peer and buddy systems as well as a range of other support measures. Research has shown that having more support available to new entrants when entering into employment increases the likelihood of retention. It is open to all job types – not only on-site roles, but also supervisors, designers, project managers and office support staff.

To learn more about this opportunity and request a call back, please visit the ECO project page.
