Call to action: help revise the Roofer Apprenticeship Standard

Give your input into how the next generation of roofers are trained and assessed.

The Roofer Apprenticeship Standard is undergoing an important revision so that it can ensure that the next generation of roofers can meet industry needs. Andy Rowlands of Rowlands Roofing is putting together a working group to help revise the Standard, which he will chair, with support from Jo Lear. The revision has the full backing and support of NFRC, however the criteria set by IFATE stipulates a minimum number of roofing contractor employers must be on the group. Meetings will be held online and are expected to last about an hour and it is expected only two or three meetings will be required over a six month timeframe. All the groundwork has been done and the meetings will be about gaining your opinions and feedback on the following topics: Core skills, knowledge and behaviours End Point Assessments (EPAs) Separating slating and tiling into different apprenticeships Lead & Hard Metals apprenticeship Liquid Waterproofing apprenticeship Green Roofing apprenticeship Funding.

If you feel passionate about securing and training a talent pool of excellent trained young roofers that benefits us all for generations to come, please contact Jo Lear to register your interest or find out more information.
