Bob Cooper retires from NFRC South West Committee

Bob Cooper, a founding member of the Institute of Roofing (IoR) and key part of the NFRC South West Regional Committee for many years, has retired. After a career spanning 65 years, we wish him a happy and well deserved retirement. Read more about Bob and his achievements.

Bob has been in roofing since 1958 and has made numerous contributions to the region's success. By Stuart Black and the NFRC South West Committee Bob Cooper (FIoR) began working as a labourer in 1958 – some 65 years ago – for Ruberoid. After a decade on the tools, he took the next step in his career and moved to roofing business where he managed branches across the South of England, including opening new ones as the business expanded. In 1980, Bob was one of the founding members of the Institute of Roofing (IoR), helping it become a crucial part of training within the industry. Bob sat on the IoR Board between 2006 and 2013 and was the South West Training Group lead. Bob has also been involved in the NFRC South West Regional Committee for many years and has continued to assist using his extensive knowledge and experience.

Bob continued learning throughout his career. He became a qualified assessor for NVQs and worked closely with exam boards to develop new qualifications. In Bob's own words: “I have come to believe that roofing is not a career, it's a disease that you just can't shake off. I am happy with that.” All of the NFRC South West Committee both past and present, NFRC nationally, and the entire roofing industry community would like to take this opportunity to celebrate your hard work and efforts over many years. We are all thankful and celebrate with you the many achievements and successes you have enjoyed. We all wish you a long and happy retirement.
