This guidance aims to try to reverse the decline in the bird population in the UK by raising awareness amongst the roofing industry and encouraging the installation of nest boxes.

This guidance is in respect of fire risk and the spread of fire . GRO has consulted the Building Regulations Approved Document B “Fire Safety” and the additional guidance as laid out in the Department for Communities and Local Government document “Fire Performance of Green Roof and Walls” (August 2013).

This Best Practice Design Guidance has been produced through the GRO Technical Committee and specifically by the GRO BioSolar Working Group, a WG consisting of GRO Manufacturer, Supplier and Contractor members with expertise in the field of Solar and Green roof systems.

This Code will help anyone who is designing, specifying, installing or maintaining a green or blue roof.
