CITB—National Construction College
Key information
For young people:
CITB stands for the Construction Industry Training board. The National Construction College (known as NCC) is the direct training section of the CITB. At NCC we deliver apprenticeship roofing training in England and Scotland. In England we deliver Roof Slating and Tiling at our centre in Erith, and in Scotland we deliver Roof Sheeting and Cladding, and Built-up Felt Roofing at our centre near Glasgow.
These apprenticeship courses are for people who want to gain a vocational qualification in roofing while gaining industry experience.
You’ll receive training in the theory of roofing, as well as enjoy comprehensive practical experience in the featured categories of training.
For employers:
Apprentices will receive industry-specific training by fully qualified instructors that meets or exceeds the requirements for occupational standards specific to the roofing industry. Apprentices will be regularly assessed using a range of methods, including written assessment, practical assessment, verbal questioning and presentation, and multiple-choice testing. They will also be required to complete college-based and site-based activity journals. Apprentices will be given clear instructions on assessment requirements with clear, direct and constructive feedback to enable them to make progress and successfully complete their training and assessment. It is important that apprentices are given the opportunity to gain practical on-site experience of what they have learned at college, as this on-site experience will be assessed and evidenced to gain their final awards.
