Taking Control: Drugs and Alcohol – FREE TRAINING

by Megan Poole | Aug 13, 2024

NFRC recently included additional (optional) questions in our accident returns on the subject of drug and alcohol testing.

NFRC are interested to find out the impact this is having on Members and in particular the welfare of the operatives that are subjected to testing. Initial analysis of the data indicates that many of our Members are offering support in this area, however there are a sizeable number that offer no support and/or have a zero tolerance policy. Whilst NFRC does not condone operatives being under the influence of drugs or alcohol whilst working, we do recognise that there are a number of factors that can affect test results, including prescription drugs and different testing across the industry. This is also affecting the available pool of labour.

In the coming weeks NFRC will be developing a guidance note to support and signpost Members.

The Lighthouse Club are offering a FREE online training course which explores the physical and mental effects of drugs and alcohol, the importance of regular employee testing for organisations, and the consequences of a positive test on both work and home life. The course is one hour long and suitable for everyone working in construction. You can sign up for the FREE course here.
