Productivity

Activity and employment

The construction sector accounts for around 8.5% of all economic activity and employment across the UK, but its rate of productivity improvement is typically 20% less than the whole economy average.

If productivity in construction can be addressed, the entire country will reap the rewards.

Advancements such as drone technology for inspections and Building Information Modelling (BIM) for project management offer opportunities to improve efficiency and quality in roofing projects. NFRC is committed to helping our Members to learn about and adopt new technology and techniques in their work. Remedial work constitutes a massive financial and productivity cost to national housebuilders. Our training regimes address fundamental skills shortages and allow projects to be completed faster and at a higher quality.

Addressing productivity barriers is vital if the roofing sector is to play its part in getting the UK to net zero.
