James Talman was appointed Group CEO of NFRC in 2016. Since then, he's led a transformational change agenda, ensuring the trade association and its government-authorised competent persons scheme, NFRC CPS, remain at the forefront of the competency agenda. James sits on numerous government and industry advisory committees, including Build UK, the Joint Competency Committee, the Construction Leadership Council, and the Solar Taskforce. Internationally, James represents NFRC at the International Federation for the Roofing Trade, and he's built strong relationships with national bodies in China, Germany, the USA and Canada.
Richard joined NFRC in 2019 to support the development of the RoofCERT accreditation programme. Since joining the association Richard has held positions responsible for qualifications, standards and compliance and is currently responsible for all operations within the trade body. A former flat roofing apprentice and from 'the tools', Richard continues his passion for the industry by leading the professional team in London and throughout the UK in supporting the roofing sector across a range of topics, including technical, safety, education and compliance. With a background in roofing, working in CITB and running his own business, Richard is well placed to add value to the UK roofing sector and sits on several external committees and working groups focused on competence, standards and compliance amongst other hot topics across the built environment.
Andy has worked within the roofing industry for over 40 years, is a Director of Rowlands Roofing Ltd and has been an NFRC Board Member since 2018. Andy is a recognised Master Craftsman and previous winner of the IFD International Roof of the Year Award. He is Chair of the NFRC South Western Region Committee and is Deputy Chair of the NFRC Heritage Committee.
Andy also represents NFRC on the IFD Pitched Roofing Commission and the IFD Training Commission.
With a background of over 27 years in the NHS at both management and strategic level Sharon joined the roofing industry in 2010 to expand and develop her knowledge and experience focusing on training, governance and risk management. With a reported national skill shortage, Sharon is passionate about developing a young, skilled roofing workforce to support the needs of the industry. Sharon has been a member of the Midlands Committee for several years and Chair’s the Health and Safety committee. Sharon is commencing her fourth year as Chair of the CITB England Nation Council. She also chairs the Staffordshire Construction Training Group.
Kevin has over 40 years’ experience in the roof refurbishment industry. Starting as an Estimator at Four Seasons Roofing in London in 1976, 19 years later he was National Operations Director responsible for 11 profit centres and a £15million turnover. Kevin formed BRC Roofing Ltd in 1994 and the company is now one of the highest profile roofing contractors in the UK with many awards and accreditations. In 1986 Kevin was the youngest person ever to be awarded a Fellowship of the Institute of Roofing. Kevin is past Regional Chairman of both the NFRC and the Institute of Roofing and has sat on the Midlands Regional Committee for over 35 years. Having become a Director of NFRC’s Management Board in 2014, Kevin became Vice President of NFRC in 2016 and President in 2020.
