UK Roofing Awards: Young Roofer of the Year


The Young Roofer of the Year award, will be awarded to a roofer or apprentice in recognition of their hard work and contribution to the roofing sector—through their approach, ability and skills. Nominations can be made by anyone to recognise an apprentice, a qualified roofer with no more than three years’ experience or a roofing student.

Entry Criteria

  • The young roofer is the “nominee”
  • The nominee needs to be:
    • Currently an apprentice or
    • Currently completing a roofing NVQ or
    • A qualified roofer for no more than three years
    • They do not need to be an NFRC member. 
  • Nomination reason; they should have:
    • Excelled in the workplace or
    • Exceptional roofing skills or
    • Excelled in delivery or learning in training or apprenticeship or
    • Helped develop their employers or own business or
    • Led the way with Health and Safety compliance or
    • Making a significant contribution to the roofing sector.
  • They will have done the above by:
    • Excelling in their performance in the workplace or
    • Working on a particularly technically hard/challenging roof/project or
    • Going the extra mile at work or
    • Being given additional responsibility by their employer due to roofing skills or approach to work or
    • Taking on additional learning to further their career in roofing or
    • Showed particular business acumen, resulting in increased business being won or additional revenue for the business or
    • Impacted way of working in the roofing sector.
